WHO IS GOD?
Let’s first start in the beginning of the Bible, and look at who God was and still IS!
Gen.
1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Here
we see that God was in the beginning and we see that He is a creator and THE
creator.
Gen.
1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let
them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and
over cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that
creepeth upon the earth.
In
this versus note that God said He made man in our image, which means the
trinity was present in the beginning also and God made us to reflect him. There is no beginning with God because he
has always been and will always be.
That is hard for us to comprehend because with us there is always a
beginning and an end to everything but not with God. God was there before Gen.
1:1 and He will be there after Rev. 22:21. He also gave man dominion over all
creatures and the earth, so God not only creates this versus shows that He also
has all power, because He gave us dominion and without Him giving us that
authority we wouldn’t have any authority.
John
19:10-11
Then
saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? Knowest thou not that I have
power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?
Jesus
answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given
thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.
Some people think they don’t need God or they
have it all wrapped up or they are just as smart as God. These versus prove
that God is all power and all authority.
He gave us authority over the earth and we would have no power unless
God gives it or approves it.
If
you read Gen. Chapters 1 and 2 you will see God is the creator of everything
and He has all authority and power over all.
John
1:1-5
In
the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The
same was in the beginning with God.
All
things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
In
him was life; and the life was the light of men,
And
the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
Gen.
2:7
And
the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils
the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Here
we see God gave us life and I believe this is where we also
Received
our spirit. And this proves that God is a living God because He had to have
life in order to give us life.
Let’s
sum up what we have learned so far.
We
praise God because?
He
has always been and always will be, because He was in our beginning and before
we ever existed.
He
is our creator and the creator of everything.
He
is Life and He gave us Life (spiritual and physical).
He
is the Word.
He
is all power.
He
is all authority.
He
is the trinity, Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
Here
is a piece from a study on the Internet I found called 31 ways to praise the
Lord. (www.momof9splace.com/31praise.html)
God
the Creator. “ Creator God, I praise you because you made the heavens, even the
hightest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it,
the seas and all that is in them. You
give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you” (Neh. 9:6)
The
God of all the Earth. “ I praise and adore You, Lord, as ‘ the Holy One of
Israel…My Redeemer…the God of all the earth’” (Is. 54:5).
