Praise: Worship of God with honor and thanksgiving
(Ps.42: 14). God is pleased and
glorified with our praise (Ps. 50:23).
Our praise of the Father is commanded in Jesus’ model prayer (Matt.
6:9-13). See also Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving: The act of expressing one’s gratitude. The psalmist praised the Lord for His
goodness and blessings (Ps. 116:12-19).
Our Christian inheritance of salvation and eternal life should inspire
our thanksgiving to God. (Col. 1:12).
We
just studied worship, now we will get into studying praise.
But
before we can truly praise the Lord, we have to know who he is, and why we
should or do worship and praise him. For example, when you praise someone such
as your child, or maybe your dog for doing something good you know them very
well. You know their personality, their
good traits and bad traits. Their
strengths and weakness’ and we could go on and on. That is how we have to know the Lord. That is one reason we don’t get into true worship and
praise. We don’t truly know or
understand who he really is and what he is capable to do or handle for us.
