WHO WAS THE GOD THAT DANIEL KNEW?

Who was the God that Daniel Knew? Daniel knew God so well that the lions weren’t going to stop him from praying or praising his God. Do we let the lions stop us? Are you ready to go in and face the lions? I believe most of our answers here would be no. Why? Because we don’t know God enough to fully trust him that he will take care of us in every situation.

We know the basics of God but we don’t know him intimately. To know him intimately we have to spend time with him each and every day. We have to read, study and spend time in prayer. And we have to STOP letting our friends, family and work or school or what ever stops us from seeking him each and every day. For a couple when dating or married as the years go by you know each other more and more. Sometimes you know how that person will respond to a situation or maybe you even know what they will say before they say it. Why? Because you have spent a lot of time together and communicated one to another. If a husband or wife only communicated to each other as much as most of us give God there would be a lot of trouble in the marriage. The other spouse would start wondering if there was someone else (Adultery) if we only talked for maybe five minutes out of the day. We commit adultery on God when we give every one or everything more time than we give him. So how can we know God when we may not even pick up his word for a whole week?

Most of the time He speaks to us thru his word. He maybe wants to tell us something or answer a prayer and He is saying just open my word it is right there wanting for you. And then we say I have been praying and seeking God for an answer but I haven’t heard anything yet. And God is saying just open my word I have the answer for you. Let’s get back to Daniel; he spent time with God that is how he knew who God was. He spent three times a day on his knees praying and giving thanks to God even when there was a decree that said he couldn’t he didn’t let that stop him. Would we? We do let decrees stop us, such as I don’t have time with work and kids or family and time is just going so fast anymore. Time isn’t going to fast, we are. Remember the ice storm this past winter? If you were like my family and me the days went by really slow and we had enough time in the day to do what ever was needed and then some. That proved to me that time hasn’t changed, I have. We are too busy to have time for God? Why? Because if the devil can keep us too busy to have time with God, then we want have the victorious life in Christ that God has planed for us. And we wonder why don’t I have a desire to come to the house of God like I should, it must be the Church. Why don’t I see God moving in my life like he does in other people’s life? Is it God? No!

God is right there waiting on us to seek him and draw close to him. He won’t make us. It is a decision we have to make and act on ourselves. This is one of the biggest tactics the devil uses in these last days, to keep us too busy to have a relationship with God. We have many friends some we consider closer than others. Why? Because some we only know them because they are friends with another friend or maybe we just met them a few times at church or somewhere else and had only talked with them a few times. But we recognize them and we know who they are but we don’t have a strong relationship with them because we have only spoke a few times. Then we have friends we have spent a lot of times with and we know almost everything about them. What kind of Friend do you consider? Is he a friend that another friend has introduced you and you know him from what that friend has told you about him? Or is He that friend you have met a few times and you recognize him and know a little about him so he is an acquaintance. Or is He like that best friend you have, or had and you knew everything about them and wanted them to go with you everywhere and you shared all your dreams together.

That’s the friend he wants to be a close best friend that you know everything about each other and share all your secrets together. He said He was a friend that would stick closer than a brother. (Pro.18: 24) This is the God Daniel knew. Let’s read Daniel chapter 6. First note that there was found a perfect spirit in Daniel. We need to ask God to put a perfect spirit in us, but we have to do our part too. And Daniel didn’t let the lions stop him from spending his time with God. We have to stop letting the lions stop us. Daniel trusted God enough that he knew God would deliver him from the lions. Do we know God enough to trust him to take care of the lions in our lives or will our doubt let the lions devour us. Some people put more trust in pills and alcohol to calm them instead of looking to God for their comfort. That is another lion that just devoured them. God is El-Shaddai The God who is sufficient for the needs of His people.

We need to take control of the lions in our lives and get to know whom God is.
