1 Cor. 13:4-8 (NIV)
Love is patient, love is
kind.
It does not envy, it does
not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not
self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrong.
Love does not delight in
evil, but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always
trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.
WHAT IS LOVE?
There
are many forms of love. A love of money
or material things, a love of the world
and
what it holds, a Godly love (a love of God), a love between a husband and wife,
a love for family, a love for your children, a love for friends, a love for
your enemies, a love for a stranger.
What form or forms of love do you have tonight? I believe there is only one type of love but many forms of it. There is good forms and bad forms and sometimes people abuse the word love. It is a word that is easy to say but if you truly love you will bear the fruit of love.
Galatians
5:22-23
But
the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, faith,
Meekness,
temperance: against such there is no law.
Did
you notice here in the list of fruit of the Spirit love is first? That is
because if you truly have the right kind of love the rest will fall right in
place.
Mark.
12:30-33
And
thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and
with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
And
the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment GREATER than
these.
And
to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all
the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is
more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
This
is so important that I feel we should take our time and really find out what
kind of Love God is speaking of? So it will probably take us a few weeks to get
thru this, but I feel sometimes God wants us to slow down and meditate on his
word and apply it to our lives. When we do read , we read to fast to really
think what is He saying? And we miss what was meant for us. Tonight we are
going to beginning studying the main base of Love.
Deut.
6:5
And
thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul,
and with all thy might.
FIRST
of all we have to love the Lord. That is the main base of love. Do you truly
love the Lord? Truly, think on this. We all want to say yes I truly love the
Lord, but if we loved the lord with a sold out true love the rest of the right
forms of love would just fall into place.
So we need to back up and examine what kind of love is the Lord
saying?
In
this verse it said to love the Lord thy God with all the heart. Remember what we have been studying the
heart and mind go together. So if we
love the Lord with all our heart we wouldn't have as much as a struggle with
our thoughts, because he would almost ALWAYS be in our thoughts not giving time
for the devil in our thoughts!
Deut.
4:29
But
if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou
seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
Deut.
10:12-22
And
now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord
thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with
all thy soul,
To
keep the commandments of the Lord, and his statutes, which I command thee this
day for thy good?
Behold,
the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the Lord's thy God, the earth also,
with all that therein is.
Only
the Lord had a delight in thy fathers to love them, and he chose their seed
after them, even you above all people,
as it is this day.
CIRCUMCISE
THEREFORE THE FORESKIN OF YOUR HEART, AND BE NO MORE STIFFNECKED. (stubborn,
rebellious)
For
the Lord your God is God of Gods, and Lord of Lords, a great God, a mighty, and
a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:
He
doth execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger,
in giving him food and raiment.
Love
ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
Thou
shalt fear the Lord thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou
cleave, and swear by his name.
He
is thy praise, and he is thy God, that hath done for thee these great and
terrible things, which thine eyes have seen.
I
loved what my study Bible had to say on this.” God’s requirement of Israel was
Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiff necked.
An uncircumcised heart is one that is closed and impervious to God's incoming,
just as an uncircumcised ear (jer. 6-10) is one that hears imperfectly, being
covered over; and uncircumcised lips (Ex. 6:12,30) are lips that speak
incoherently because they are sealed wholly or in part. If that which hinders
is cut away, there will be a submission to the will of God and the end of
stubbornness. Stiff necked people: Literally, the word is " hard of
neck"; the figure may be taken from a stubborn ox that refused to submit
to the yoke. (Sometimes we are that stubborn ox we refuse to submit to God's
yoke on issues in our lives that we know doesn't represent God or we know God
really doesn't approve. We are just stubborn! This is what God gave me to say
not from the study Bible.)
The
heart was the seat of the mind and will, as well as of a wide range of
emotions.
Deut.
11:13
And
it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments
which I command you this day, to love the Lord your God, and to serve him with
all your heart and with all your soul,
Deut.
11:18-23
Therefore
shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them
for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.
AND
YE SHALL TEACH THEM YOUR CHILDREN, SPEAKING OF THEM WHEN THOU SITTEST IN THINE
HOUSE, AND WHEN THOU WALKEST BY THE WAY, WHEN THOU LIEST DOWN, AND WHEN THOU
RISEST UP.
And
thou shalt write them upon the doorposts of thine house and upon thy gates:
THAT
YOUR DAYS MAY BE MULTIPLIED, AND THE DAYS OF YOUR CHILDREN, in the land, which
the Lord swear unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the
earth.
For
if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do
them, to love the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto
him;
Deut.
13:3-4
Thou
shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams:
for the Lord your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the Lord your god
with all your heart and with all your soul.
Ye
shall walk after the Lord your God, and FEAR him, and keep his commandments,
and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.
In
Deut. 6:1-9 it speaks of Soul. What does it mean with all your Soul? (study
Bible) Soul seems to refer to source of
life or even of one's being. It can also refer to appetite or desire.
Might refers to strength.
Deut.
23:25
And
like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the LORD WITH ALL HIS HEART, AND WITH ALL HIS SOUL, AND
WITH ALL HIS MIGHT, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose
there any like him.
(Study
Bible) Just as Hezekiah was commended for his faith, so Josiah was recognized
as having no peer in his stand for the strict application of the law of Moses.
(Study
Bible) Back up to Duet. 6. where it speaks of IN THINE HEART: God wanted His
Law in their minds (thoughts) and not just on tablets of Stone. TEACH THEM
DILIGENTLY: The phrase means, "You shall repeat them to your
children." The words sittest, walkest, liest, and rises indicate that in
every waking moment we are to teach God's principles in our homes and to our
children, by our words and our actions.
Are
we doing all of this? Is God's law in our minds? Do we sittest, walkest, liest
and risest on God. In other words is God in our every waking moment?
Let's
back up for a minute to we need to teach our children. Do we teach them to
love? or do or have we taught them to do to others as they do to you? For instance
if someone does something in school to them do we tell them to do the same
back? The satanic bible teaches the opposite of the commandments. Such as our
Bible says Do unto others as you would have others do to you. The satanic bible says Do to others as
others do to you. Pro. 24:29 Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to
me: I will render to the man according to his work.
Another example what if we tell them to go
to school and don't take anything off anyone.
Don't let people push you around.
Ohh! we have to be careful, how easy we can teach from Satan and not
even realize it. Because Satan put it
in our minds and we ran with it, instead of stopping and checking the spirits
and asking God what we should do. We
also teach our children by our actions and words. For example Jacob watches so close to hand movements or things
you would even know he would pay attention to, but he catches it. That is what it is when we talk. Our we showing our children love in our
words and actions? Do we let them know
how important they are to us or do we just yell and scream at them and leave
them feeling unloved? Do we show love
to them for other people? Its easy to
say you need to love everyone, but living it is not so easy. People say oh I love everyone but they don't
show it. Remember if we have that fruit
it will bear.
Matt.
5:38-48
Ye
have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
But
I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy
right cheek, turn to him the other also.
And
if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy
cloak also.
And
whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.
Give
to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou
away.
Ye
have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt Love thy neighbor, and hate thine
enemy.
But
I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them
that hate you and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
That
ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven; for he maketh his sun
to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the
unjust.
For
if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans
the same?
And
if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the
publicans so?
Be
ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
Here
the Lord just told us to love our enemies, do good unto them. Not I can't stand that person because they
did this or that. Oh be careful what we teach our children! Oh be careful
little mouth what we say. Oh be careful little mind what we think.
Because
we may not say it but we think it, it is the same. We need to renew our minds.
Like
the Lord says it is easy to love the ones that love us even sinners can do
that. But it is when we love and bear
fruit of that love to the one that curses at us evertime they see us or they
have said something bad about us. That
is how they can tell us from the world. When we can love and walk away from a
situation instead of fighting back or acting the same way as that person. It takes a stronger person to walk away then
to stand and fight.
Because
to walk away you have to have fight against the flesh (resist the devil and he
will flee from you) your flesh would want you to fight or say things you
shouldn't.

16:25
There
is a way that seemeth right unto a man; but the ends thereof are the ways of
death.
In order to do these scriptures we first have to have LOVE a genuine LOVE. And bear the fruit of it with our words and actions.
